Your application checklist
Start with your state and proposed work. Your checklist updates as you select the approval pathway and building arrangements.
Not sure yet? Select that option and we’ll show you a practical starting point for a conversation with our team.
This guide helps you prepare. iPermit confirms the documents needed for your site, building class and scope. It does not determine approval eligibility or permission to start work.
Discuss your applicationA CC follows development consent. CDC eligibility must be assessed for your proposal and land.
If you own the property and are engaging a builder, select “A builder”. Owner-builder describes how the work is managed.

A pool application needs different drawings from a home extension or commercial project. Choose your state above to begin.
YOUR PREPARATION CHECKLIST
Tick each item as you review it. Form links open in a new tab. Ticks stay only while this page is open; print to keep a copy. You can bookmark the page to reopen your selected checklist without the ticks.
This checklist covers a proposed residential pool or spa. For an existing pool’s periodic barrier inspection, use our pool barrier inspection guidance.
You have reviewed each item. Confirm any outstanding or site-specific requirements with iPermit. Your ticks do not confirm that an application is complete or approved.

A FEW USEFUL DETAILS
Application questions
What if I do not have plans yet?
You can still start a conversation. Share the property address, proposed work, estimated cost and any available drawings or approvals. Tell us what is still being prepared so we can explain the next steps.
Does this show every document my project will need?
It is a preparation guide tailored to your selections. Site conditions, building class, design details and existing approvals can change what is needed. iPermit confirms the project-specific requirements and may request further information during assessment.
Do I need every document in Resources?
No. Resources includes application forms, completion certificates and specialist reference material. Start with the links in your checklist and confirm the applicable items with us. Existing reference documents may use earlier terminology or thresholds; our team confirms current requirements.
How should I organise my attachments?
Use clear filenames and drawing revision dates, provide the latest coordinated plans and explain any changes. Upload NSW application documents to the Planning Portal. For Victoria, use the property address and any project reference in your email subject. Ask us how to share large files.
I need an inspection, not a new application.
Have the property address, permit or project reference, inspection stage, site contact and access details ready. For an existing pool barrier, include the council letter or previous inspection record. Contact us to confirm inspection arrangements.
What about an amendment or existing appointment?
Contact us before making a new application. Tell us about existing approvals, work already started and any certifier or surveyor already appointed. Amendments, extensions and changes of appointment need a project-specific discussion.
